Campaigning

CWU dispute - we are in regular contact with CWU Colchester.

Alderman Blaxill/ TLA - Academy school plans. Discussion on the issues. NUT plan a further meeting on the topic.

TU/Labour Resource Centre - ongoing

NUJ Campaign - " Stand Up For Journalism" day - Monday 05.11.07
Michael Powell spoke on the local plans for the day.
Lunch-time "demo" on North Hill.

Secretary's Report

Correspondence.

Advised delegates of the National Shop Stewards Network - London & SE conference - Sunday 21.10.07. Stop the War Conference - London 01.12.07

The Signpost Resource Centre for the unemployed, at Wilson Marriage was threatened by the county councils plans for the building. The secretary will follow up on this.

Finance

Main a/c - all affiliations received for this year. Budget for 2008 will be looked at.

The Sub Committee A/c - is well funded to meet the cost of the Alternative Oyster Feast. Thanks to all those branches who made donations.

A TUC grant - had been applied for to provide pensions campaign "mugs" for use at the Alternative Oyster Feast.

Alternative Oyster Feast - Friday October 26th 2007. Cllr Dave Harris and the secretary, had the event in hand. The issue now was to ensure there were helpers on the day to transport guests and act as hosts. Raffle & Bingo Prizes - would be appreciate
