Colchester TUC - Update - December 11th 2008 - Meeting

Many thanks to the delegates who attended our meeting on 11.12.08.
There was no speaker booked for the meeting. The secretary would welcome suggestions for speakers for future meeting

Campaigning -
Much discussion took place on the activities of the BNP in the area. Bob reported on the anti-BNP meeting he had attended in Witham.
Bob & Mike spoke of their experiences in collecting signatures for the Equality & Diversity statement in the town centre. They will look to resume this activity in the New Year.
The Secretary reported that 25 organisations had been sent the E & D statement. He had received 8 back so far. He hoped that branches would be supportive and help signpost us towards other organisations who we could get to be signatories.

With the Euro elections & County Council election s in 2009 , there remained work to be done.
The meeting discussed the current consultation on secondary education in South Colchester.

The meeting agreed to donate £10 to the Hazards 2009 Conference Appeal fund.
