Campaigning - A range
of topics were discussed.
Support for the Vestas workers in the Isle of Wight.We agreed
a donation of £50 to the campaign organised through Ryde Trades
Council.
The National Express East Anglia rail dispute - had been called
off by the unions following talks. A ballot of members will follow.
Royal Mail - The secretary had attended a well supported CWU
branch meeting. Paul Moffat the regional officer had spoken. CWU are
dealing with Royal Mail management who want to steamroller their efficency
plans through without consultation.
We should look to give CWU our full support.
Essex County Council Outsourcing - No update.
Anti - BNP Campaigning - The secretary was aware that Clacton
Labour party were looking for support with campaigning against the
BNP. He will follow this up and see what they are planning.
Secretary's Report - The secretary
spoke on the range of activities. He noted he had written to USDAW
inviting them to send a speaker. As yet he had not received a reply
....

Treasurer's Report - Balances
of the main account and the sub committee account were circulated.
We had already agreed a donation of £50 to the Vestas campaign.
£30 from the campaign fund was granted to support the mini-bus
from Harwich which was going to the anti BNP demonstration at Codnor.
Alternative Oyster Feast - The
secretary had been discussing the event with Dave Harris of the Colchester
Labour party. Appeals to the event were issued to delegates present.
