Colchester TUC - Update - August 14th 2008 - Meeting

The meeting welcomed Richard Allday and Katherine Connelly from Harwich TUC.

Speaker - none scheduled for this meeting or September. However for the October meeting there will be a talk " For The Members" Friendly Societies past, present and future.
We are attempting to arrange for a visit from Anan Kofi from the Kilombo organisation to speak at our November meeting.

Campaigning - The development of the Anti Fascist Anti Racist Action Plan (AFARAP) was a major topic of discussion. The Colchester & District Equality & Diversity statement will be piloted hopefully at the Tendring & Colchester Minority Ethnic Partnership event on 30.08.08.
Details to be confirmed.
A version of the Equality & Diversity Statement for Tendring will be developed.
Other activities in support of AFARAP were discussed.
An application for a TUC grant will be made towards funding AFARAP.

Secretary's Report
- Correspondence received was noted.

Finance - The Financial Statement was accepted by the meeting.
Main Account funds were holding up well. An appeal for funds for The Alternative Oyster Feast would be made shortly.

The secretary will liaise with Dave Harris on the arrangements for the event.

Essex County Association of TUCs - next meeting 06.09.08

Delegates Reports
Reports from delegates present were received along with a written report from Helen Winrow (PCS HMRC)

Next meeting - Thursday September 11th 2008 8pm - Odd One Out, Mersea Rd Colchester.
