The author of "Ramparts
Of Resistance" has now wrote the follow up to her book
"What's Happening? The Truth About Work-and the Myth of Partnership"
in which Despite the change of political administrations in Britain
in 1997, the conditions and problems facing millions of people at
work have remained relatively unchanged. In this context, the aims
of this pamphlet are explicit and generally laudable. It seeks to
document the worsening conditions faced by workers under contemporary
management regimes, with their plethora of new techniques, through
a series of accounts by workplace activists covering a range of
industries and workplaces, including those which have seen significant
levels of conflict within the last few years. The fact that it is
activists who are recording the changes gives an indication of the
further aim of illustrating the ability of workers to fight for
changes even in what are difficult circumstances.
