Report From - July 2007 - Meeting.


Campaiging

CWU Dispute- The meeting expressed full support to CWU in the dipsute with Royal Mail.
Withdrawal oF Firstbus Services to Brightlingsea - The secretary was fully supported in his efforts to protect the interests of workers who use bus services from Brightlingsea.
Foundation Trust Hospital Status for Essex Rivers NHS Trust - Mary Russell explained the background to the issue. Proposal that Mary arranges for a leaflet to be produced and distributed, was agreed.
Alderman Blaxill School - Closure/merger with Thomas Lord Audley & Academy Status
Discussion took place on the issue. Concern was expressed over the proposals for closure.
Colchester TUC would support a public meeting with NUT,on Academy Schools.
Brightlingsea Free Music Festival - Satruday July 28th 2007
We can have a stall at this event. We want to promote trades unions, meet union members, promote awareness of Trades Councils.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!!!
Can you help us on the day - we aim to be there from noon to about 5pm...........
Can your branch/area office help us with "freebies" etc.please .............................

Secretary's Report


Colchester Borough Council Distribution of Free Printed Matter Order 2007.
Further guidance will be obtained on this matter.
TU Studies Centre Colchester Institute - Awards Ceremony
The secretary, along with Bob Lamber, attened the event. The Trades Council Award for Special Achievement was awarded to Paul Norris, who had taken the Certificate in Employment Law and was continuing on to higher education.

Finance Report

Current financial situation was discussed by delegates.
A donation to the Essex County Association of TUCs of £50 was agreed.



Alternative Oyster Feast


Delegates were advised that the event started in 1980! and the appeal would go out shortly to unions for donations to support the 2007 event.
