Proud Of Our Past & Fighting For A Better Future

The Colchester Alternative Oyster Feast 2009

Another great "people" event - the 30th Alternative Oyster Feast was held on October 30th and was attended by 100+ guests who have connections with the trade union and labour movement.
Our guest speaker Frank Cooper - President of the National Pensioners Convention (NPC), told our guests about the work of the NPC and their efforts to improve the situation of pensioners. He spoke about the recently launched "Pensioner's Manifesto" which was ready for the coming election in 2010. He thanked the Trades Council for the invitation and he had been pleased to attend.
Guests enjoyed the now traditional fish & chips lunch - albeit delivered slightly late. Then they participated in bingo, raffle, sing-a-long ending with the "Red Flag" - a good time was had by all.
Guests and helpers each received a commemorative badge celebrating the event's 30th anniversary, which had been commissioned by the Trades Council.
Planning for the 2010 event is already under way………….
My thanks to all who helped make this years event a great success.
